Software Engineer - Node JS / NEST JS

TeachForward is hiring a Angular UI developer to help us create an international assessment authoring application.

What you’ll be working on

At TeachForward you’ll be working on products that educators rely on every single day to further their professional development. Your work will impact teaching and learning in the U.S. and throughout the world. You’ll be working with a specialized team of developers and QA professionals with a reputation for delivering quality products on time. Our team is top-notch, and we want you to make it even better.

This NestJS Developer position will be primarily focused on developing our new international assessment authoring product.  You will be working with product owners, technical leadership, and the rest of the development team to understand business requirements, develop new product features, and create automated tests against the features and overall application suite. Your primary focus will be designing and writing code for our cloud native item assessment authoring applications leveraging the NestJs frameworks to implement features, address issues as needed, participate in code reviews, and be involved with our deployment and release processes. This role will also be an active participant in driving the evolution of our product suite.

On any given day you may:

  • Engage with the product owners to refine requirements and identify product features
  • Produce efficient, performant, and scalable code
  • Creating automated tests to support new and existing features
  • Share and work with other team members to level up our overall skill set
  • Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback
  • Dig into system issues to understand and fix the cause, not the symptom
  • Actively participate in identifying and deciding between tactical and strategic solutions

What you bring to the table

You are an experienced Node engineer. You can work independently to get things done while collaborating with others on architectural and process decisions. You demonstrate an understanding that the quality of application code is directly related to the tests that support it. You are comfortable with giving and receiving feedback from your teammates and others in the organization. You understand when to integrate an existing solution into a code base and when to write a custom one and the considerations that come with each. You can think on your feet and conceptualize what needs to be done from incomplete and evolving requirements. You hit deadlines and communicate effectively.

The successful candidate will also have experience with:

  • Mongo DB
  • Building REST API’s
  • Building web applications

Bonus points for:

  • AWS experience
  • Auth0 experience
